Subject: BOBOLINKS:Fauquier
I found an indeterminate number of Bobolinks in the large field on the north
side of Rt. 788, Leeds Manor Rd., just off of Route 17 in Fauquier County
this morning. This is the same field where I have seen them before, and
where I had 50 to 100 last year. I heard lots of Bobolink chatter coming from
the grass, but the wind was blowing very strongly when I was there so mostly
they stayed hidden. I did have two obliging males fly up and sit on the fence
post down the road from me. I intend to try again in two or three days.
Hopefully there will be less wind.
Earlier I checked Harrison Lane and Belvoir road and found no Bobolinks at
all.
