For some reason Bill Williams note did not reach the VA List Serve… See list of
birds below observed at Craney Island today on VSO's Field Trip this morning.
Bill Williams kept score and submitted list to eBird.
Thanks to all who came out and to Ruth Beck who arranged for us to visit Craney.

Greetings All,
Below is the preliminary list of species seen today, 21 August 2011, during
the VSO field trip to Craney Island disposal site in Portsmouth. Twenty-four
participants were able to get detailed looks at most all of the 68 species
Ruth Beck had in place. A fly-away Upland Sandpiper was detected by one
group. A very ragged dredge-soiled Glaucous Gull, present there throughout
the summer, was most accommodating. Black-necked Stilts, American Avocets,
and Black Terns were often feeding right next to our vehicles. So many
"peeps" so little time......................................
