Greetings All,
Below is the preliminary list of species seen today, 21 August 2011, during the
VSO field trip to Craney Island disposal site in Portsmouth. Twenty-four
participants were able to get detailed looks at most all of the 68 species Ruth
Beck had in place. A fly-away Upland Sandpiper was detected by one group. A
very ragged dredge-soiled Glaucous Gull, present there throughout the summer,
was most accommodating. Black-necked Stilts, American Avocets, and Black Terns
were often feeding right next to our vehicles. So many "peeps" so little
time......................................
