Va Birders,
Four dedicated birders came out to look around Banshee Reeks in a Northern
Virginia Bird Club Trip to Banshee Reeks in Loudoun County. The walk was led by
Mary Ann Good and me. There was about three inches of snow on the ground and
the wind was starting to pick up as the morning wore on. Bird activity was
limited, but we did get some great looks at various raptors including
Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, and an immature Bald Eagle. The highlight
though, was a male "Gray Ghost" Northern Harrier which flew in and banked in
front of us. Driving out on The Woods Road, I saw two Wild Turkeys which I
included on the list below. I also found the various wildlfe tracks to be of
interest. There were some canine looking tracks too big to be fox. Are there
coyotes there?
