Signs of spring are building at Leesylvania SP. Bluebirds were showing
interest in the bird boxes, Osprey's were adding sticks to their nests, three
tree swallows were over the parking lot, and 2 wood ducks were exploring tree
holes. Several large flocks of juncos lined the road. Two american pipits
along the shore of the picnic area were the biggest surprise. I heard one
phoebe and one yellow-rumped warbler. Powell's creek had a nice assortment of
waterfowl, including black duck, mallard, pintail, canvasback, lesser scaup,
red-breasted mergansers, tundra swan, and Canada goose. Two adult bald eagles
were jousting in the sky, and I saw a Cooper's hawk on the way home.
