Hello VA Birders,
I took the opportunity to visit Mathews Co. this afternoon for a few
hours. Most of the time was spent at Bethel Beach. I failed to
re-locate the reported Scissor-tailed Flycatchers (2). They could
still be around as there is a lot of inaccessible territory. I saw a
single Eastern Kingbird at Haven Beach which is a little north of
Bethel. I drove back roads to Haven beach looking at power lines. Nice
looks at Seaside Sparrows and Ruddy Turnstone.
Next time you visit Bethel Beach take a trash bag. I was saddened to
see quite a lot of trash left by visitors to this beautiful place.
