The highlight of my morning was a juvenile King Rail at the end of Easy Road.
It stay out in the open for about 10 or 15 minutes while I watched it, and did
not flush until I started walking down the road and pushed it away from the
march and into the woods. It was an awkward flight back to the reeds. The tide
was very high. This was a very drab gray birds and I did not see any orange on
it, so I guess it could have been a Clapper Rail. Do they breed anywhere
nearby? The photos I took with my iPhone came out mostly as a dark silhouette.
