Dear List,
Russ Taylor & I got a late start on Saturday, but nevertheless had some luck in
Rectortown, Fauquier County, VA, at the bridge that crossed over the stream
north of town. Most notable were the colony of Cliff Swallows nesting under the
bridge. (The only other place I have seen them in NOVA is on the bridge over
the Shenandoah on Route 7, west of Snicker's Gap.) A pair of Northern
Rough-winged Swallows are nesting in the stream bank next to the bridge. The
other notable was a Red-headed Woodpecker.
Cheers,
Phil
