Greg Moyers and I heard, then saw and photographed a singing male Prothonotary
Warbler in the Elkton area today (eastern Rockingham County.) This was really
a treat for us; it's probably safe to say neither of us are big dancers but we
made a feeble attempt '-) ! I believe there are only a handful of records of
this species in this western County. Habitat was a flooded, swampy area. We
also heard a White-eyed Vireo and Common Yellowthroat; both species are
reliably found at this site. Unfortunately it's private property -- there's no
public access.
