Subject: eBird Report from Staunton View Park in Mecklenburg Co. near
Clarksville.
Greetings to all:
Adam D’Onofrio Paul Glass and Clyde Wilson and myself meet up Saturday morning
08-08-2015 to spend the day looking for shorebirds, terns and herons and egrets
at Staunton View Park.
We saw the Caspian Tern that we found two weeks ago and saw Great Blue Heron,
Great Egret and Green Heron but no other herons or egrets, but we did see 5
juvenile White Ibis far out on the flats up the Staunton River. Clyde took some
photos and one is included on the list but they were very far out to get a good
shot of them.
Shorebirds were in moderate numbers with usual species except for an early
Wilson’s Snipe.
Very little song bird movement.
We got good looks at Bald Eagle including 2 Juveniles, one Immature and one
Adult. Osprey were seen perched on logs as well as flying overhead. We have
three Red-Shoulder Hawk interacting together with one flying right over our
heads. We found one Red-Tailed Hawk perched in a dead tree that allow us to get
some good pictures and great views before flying off.
Following is link to list with pictures.
