Hi all,
This looks like a fun event to help raise awareness of shorebirds:

Follow the link if you want to be a part of celebrating
shorebirds around the world, calling attention to them by
participating in a count covering much of our planet. I have
claimed 2 places near Bend but can share of course.

Two mid-Willamette Valley shorebird spots are already on the map (Cabell
Marsh and the Philomath sewage ponds), but that leaves a bunch more
sites. Just to give some ideas: Tangent & Brownsville area ponds,
Talking Waters, other marshes Finley/Baskett Slough/Ankeny NWRs, various
spots along the Willamette River, E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area etc.
Since shorebirds can be challenging for many birders, perhaps some of
the more experienced shorebirders could announce if they'd welcome
company while counting at particular mid-valley spots.
Happy shorebirding,
Joel
