Taking a short birding break before work this morning, I managed to get to
the hawkwatch platform in time to see a Golden Eagle go over at about 10:50
a.m., with Kyle Wright and Ann McDowell - a nice low bird right overhead -
and four Rusty Blackbirds (five more had been seen earlier). An adult
Red-shouldered Hawk was also here, and one or more adult male Northern
Harriers. At Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR, two Purple Finches, more
harriers and Red-shouldereds, and a Broad-winged Hawk were highlights.
Also here two days earlier were three Golden Eagles, seen by Bart Paxton.
Very blustery day with strong northeasterly winds, but great for hot cocoa.
