I spent a good part of this afternoon (11/28/07) walking the Jericho Ditch. In
the back of my mind I was hoping for some interesting finches, so needless to
say I was really happy to see three Purple Finches. No "purple" adult males,
but a life bird for me so I was excited! Other birds of note: many Cedar
Waxwings and Rusty Blackbirds mixed in with the continuous flocks of Robins,
atleast three Red-headed Woodpeckers, over 30 Swamp Sparrows, three Wild
Turkeys feeding in the road, and an Eastern Screech Owl heard at 4:00 p.m. I
think that my luckiest sighting was two Bobcats sitting in the road, washing
themselves. I got some nice views until I was noticed and the pair creeped off
into the woods.
