Sally Wechsler led this morning's walk of ten birders. This was an
outstanding walk from the standpoint of late woodland late migrants/winter
visitants. We observed 6 Winter Wrens throughout the park, five of which were
most cooperative, plus a Fox Sparrow, Hermit Thrushes, several Sapsuckers,
both Kinglets, and Brown Creepers, in addition to the usual woodland birds.
It was also a six woodpecker species day. The only downside was the
continued lack of a variety of waterfowl. The list follows.
The group meets every Sunday at 8 AM at the visitors' center and all are
invited to join us.
