Our group of five on this overcast morning tallied 33 species. Highlights of
the day were a resplendent yellow bellied sapsucker and cooperative eastern
phoebes. The eagles continue tending the nest on Conn Island, and while we
have not seen chicks, their behavior indicates that they are there. With
the river high and fast there were no mallards or black ducks to be seen.
To digress....spring beauties were budding and skunk cabbage blooming.
All are welcome to join this Sunday morning walk that meets at 8:00am in the
visitors center courtyard. Upon occasion should there be a flock in the
parking, there may be a delay getting to visitors center. -- Marshall Rawson,
