With 14 birders on hand, the walk produced a total of 44 species this
morning. The morning started slowly with cold temps and a cold north wind but
activity picked up as it warmed up. We observed 5 warbler species, Parula,
Pine,
Palm, La. Waterthrush, and Yellow-rumped, the first three being FOY for the
walk as were the Spotted Sandpipers. A pair of Redheads which have been seen
for the past several Sundays were still present this AM. One adult Bald
Eagle was standing in the nest across the Potomac while another adult soared
overhead. The walk is open to all. We meet at 8 AM every Sunday at the
Visitors' Center. ---Ralph Wall, subbing for Marshall Rawson on this
