I took a ride to several ponds in the area yesterday afternoon. Found a
Greater White-fronted goose foraging with a flock of Canada Geese. It was at a
pond that is adjacent to the parking lot of the Walmart Distribution center at
Zion's Crossroads. There were also 2 pair of Bufflehead in the pond.
On my way home to Palmyra I was driving into the sub-division and came upon a
flock of Rusty Blackbirds resting in the trees on the roadside (Broken Island
Road). There were at least 500 and they were very vocal. They stayed for
perhaps an hour and then moved on.
