Greetings from the Exmore Best Western motel. At 11:15 A.M. today, Monday,
Oct.12, Columbus Day, there is an adult Greater White-fronted Goose at Willis
Wharf. It's on the landward side (west) of the bridge with 40 Canada Geese,
some Mallards, and Am. Black Ducks plus some mongrel white geese. It's
unbanded with orange legs and bill, a vertical white mark between the bill and
eyes, and has the classic black belly bands, hence a prototypical
"specklebelly." A Pied-billed Grebe is nearby plus 160 Willets and 47 Marbled
Godwits in front of the post office. The GWFG lunged once at a black duck.
I've cell-phoned this to Bob Anderson who is stationed at the Seaside Hawkwatch
spot today and will try to notify others in the area whose cell phones #s I
lack. Best regards to all. - Harry Armistead.
