This morning our family visited the great-horned owl nest just east of
Harrisonburg. Two owlets peered at us. An adult owl flew shortly after we
arrived and we did not get photos that showed her, but one interesting
experience-a white-breasted nuthatch came down the tree trunk and looked at
the owlets. One of the owlets was keenly interested, and I do believe I got
a glimpse of it drooling!

P. S. For two days now, a bald eagle (80% sure) has been visiting the Union
Springs dam in the a.m. Someone leaving for work has been seeing a large
bird with a white head and very dark body in a pine tree at the far left end
as viewed from the dam. I just found out today, and haven't seen it yet
myself.
