I stopped by Greenfield this afternoon, partly to see if the Tundra Swan
was still around from a couple of days ago. The swan was still present. I noted
previously that a female Canvasback was there. She was the only diving duck on
the pond. Well today that has all changed as she was accompanied by 92
Ring-necked Ducks, 72 males and 20 females. There were 16 additional Ring-necks
at
Murray's Pond, mostly males. Katie James arrived at Greenfield while I was
still there and we flushed a Common Snipe. We also found a Swamp Sparrow, which
was a new bird for Katie!
A brief visit to Carvins Cove turned up two Bonaparte's Gulls in the
company of 10 Ring-billed Gulls. The only other water birds seen were a
Pied-billed
Grebe and a Great Blue Heron.
