The bear hunters are back, some cruising through the parking lot in their
pickups, with their dogs sticking their heads out of their crates taking in
the sights, or possibly the scent of a bear.
Weather:
Strong, gusty winds out of the WNW with upper level winds out of the SW.
Dark cumulus clouds passing over during count period. Cold, temp. 38-39F
Raptor Observations:
No migrating raptors observed. Sixteen Turkey Vultures sun bathing on the
guard rail and in the grass on the East side of the ridge out of the wind.
Interesting behavior as there seemed to be a pecking order regarding who
could sun bathe in a certain patch of grass.
Non-raptor Observations:
A group of five American Crows passed the lookout heading South.
Predictions:
Winds should die down some.
