An appropriate request for an elaboration on the research that I am
working on was made, so I thought I would post this to the list.
We are trying to determine how vultures that use Dutch Gap interact with
the wider population of vultures. That is, how often do they move among
other vulture roosts. We are also interested in how the hazing program
currently underway at Dutch Gap might influence vulture movements.
Clearly, the goal of the program is to discourage vultures from
returning to Dutch Gap. Any information that we obtain for this project
will help to develop a conceptual (and maybe mathematical) model of the
vulture population, which is vital in developing a long-term strategy to
alleviate damage caused by the vultures at Dutch Gap.
I hope this helps in light of the request that I made for information on
roosts of Black Vultures.
