Total observation time: 7.25 hours
Official Counter: Baron Gibson, Bill Adams, Bill James
Observers: Bill James, John Slaughter, phillip ferguson
Visitors:
A few that lingered awhile & lots of Parkway goers.
Weather:
Cloud remnants from Earl lingered most of the day giving way to clouds and
wind from approaching cold front. Temps cool in the shade & hot in the sun.
Raptor Observations:
Very slow for the first 5 hrs. then 9 hawks the last 1.45 hrs.
First hawk was an Osprey observed by Bill Adams @ 08:30. I arrived @ 09:15
(due to new husky being sick) Adult Balds observed @ 14:20 right over the
knob, 14:32 two together far out over the NW valley then again observed SW
of watch trying to get enough lift to get over the ridge, 15:13 last hawk
observed was an adult Bald (I had to leave @ 14:50 to take dog to vet) by
Bill James. 6 Ospreys & 3 Kestrels. It is migration time!!!!!
Non-raptor Observations:
Knats, Flys & a few Swifts & Monarchs
Predictions:
Cooler temps and stronger NW winds should bring some more Hawks.
