I spent over an hour this afternoon around Rudee Inlet in VA Beach, looking for
anything pushed into the area from the passing hurricane. I did not find
anything unexpected, not even a lingering Black Tern. More than likely, the
hurricane was to far out to cause any movement of birds close to the coast. A
few Sandwich Terns flying by and a dolphin pod were nice, but there was little
activity, other than a good turnout of surfers. The waves were more than 10
feet high, maybe 15 feet.
