Weather:
Gradual clearing took place throughout the morning hours with sunny skies
dominating the afternoon hours. Winds were light and variable becoming
light from the west in the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
The movement today was at altitude much the same as in recent days. Numbers
were fairly steady throughout the day and highlighted by the fall's first
Swainson's Hawk, a juvenile light morph.
Non-raptor Observations:
Finally there was a substantial movement of songbirds with a good selection
of warblers seen, the largest numbers being Northern Parula along with
lesser numbers of Redstart, Blackpoll, Black-throated Blue, Bay-breasted
and Nashville among others. A Connecticut was banded at the songbird
station. Good numbers of Eastern Phoebe, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Gray
Catbird and Baltimore Oriole were also present.
