Observation start time: 06:45:00
Observation end time: 16:15:00
Total observation time: 9.5 hours
Official Counter: Kyle Wright
Observers:
Weather:
Light rain off an on throughout the day, with heavier rain to the south
presumably hindering migration. 100% cloud cover even when not raining,
light winds from the east, with temperatures fairly steady between 19.9c
and 21.9c.
Raptor Observations:
Non-raptor Observations:
Three southbound Great Blue Herons seen from the platform today.
Conservativly 4000 Tree Swallows milling around over the platform much of
the day, most displaying little apparent intention to head south. Also
conservativly 1500 Yellow-rumped Warblers were seen over the course of the
nine and a half hour count, with Black-throated Blue and Common
Yellowthroat also noted. Easily 200 White-throated Sparrows, with a few
Song and Chipping Sparrows also seen. Presumably many other species of
Passerine and other non-raptor (sub)avian life around, but the counter was
off his game today with a bit of a head cold, so many went unidentified. 97
Monarch Flutterbys were also noted.
Predictions:
Rain all about the area will likely translate to little avian movement,
with a chance for no count being conducted depending on what the live radar
looks like in the a.m.
