Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Steve Kolbe
Observers: Jim Marcum, Ned Brinkley
Weather:
Light northeast winds again today with mild temperatures and partly cloudy
skies.
Raptor Observations:
Pretty quiet again today.
Non-raptor Observations:
Virtually always, the uncommon winter finches being reported here are
detected by call as fly-overs. Some are seen, others are not. Evening
Grosbeaks are seen best in the morning, which is also the best time for
redpolls and crossbills. On some days, the crossbills are seen throughout
the day.
Good numbers of Red Crossbills today, but the lack of clouds in the early
morning made them agonizingly difficult to see. 56 RECRs were counted
today, but this total does not include five heard but not seen flocks that
also passed the platform. Also detected today include one Evening Grosbeak,
one Common Redpoll, and more Purple Finches and Pine Siskins than have been
around the past few days.
Predictions:
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
