Weather:
Today saw a mix of sun and cloud with the cloudier portions of the day
early and late. We did not receive any of the rain that was forecast for
the day. Winds were moderate but gusty from the south-southeast.
Raptor Observations:
Today continued the trend of fewer and fewer migrating raptors as a result
of this warm southerly flow we have been experiencing the last few days.
The bright spot was that the birds were again very low and there were very
good looks of Harriers and Peregrines as they sailed by at treetop.
Non-raptor Observations:
Droves of swallows were busy migrating during the morning hours. Among the
many Trees were 20+ Northern Rough-winged and a single Barn Swallow. Nine
Chimney Swifts were also of note. There was a Brown-headed Nuthatch calling
towards the campground, one of the few heard all fall.
