I was surprised to find this in the Woodcock Meadow---the latest I've ever
seen a gnatcatcher in VA previously was Sept. 15, over five weeks ago.  More
hard evidence of global warming!

I also found a couple of big mixed flocks of RUMPS and both KINGLETS, and my
first CREEPER of the season.  The only other birds of note were 13 SWIFTS
heading south in small groups, and three HERMIT THRUSHES calling in the
woods.

Earlier this week, I heard a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH calling in White Oaks Park.
