Visitors:
Sam Evans of, Abingdon VA. Jeff and Margaret Prater from Manassas, VA. and
a couple from Kingsport. I can not find their names. Sorry.
Weather:
Winds were light and variable most of the day.
Raptor Observations:
Northern Goshawk was first bird of the morning at 9:10am. It was a juvenile
and it flew in close to the ridge which allowed me to get a good look. Head
pattern, strong, direct flight with stiff wingbeats. Long tail but same
width of body. Broadwing flight was good until 1:30 then quit. Last 2 birds
seen were struggling and dropped into the trees.
Non-raptor Observations:
2 Red-headed Woodpeckers, 4 monarchs and several songbirds moving thru.
