Official Counter: BJ Little
Observers: Bev Leeuwenburg, Jen Folts
Weather:
21 to 26 degrees C. 5 mph West winds before 11, then light, variable and
useless. Lovely cumulus clouds building in from the east midday. A fine day
for sitting on the mountaintop except for the dearth of raptors.
Raptor Observations:
Meandering Redtails hunted up the ridge but did not migrate. Near the end
of the watch period, a couple of adult Bald Eagles wandered the high sky
upridge and then went back north. First bird of the day was a Cooper's Hawk
which circled up out of the gap on the East and slipped south at 9:32 am.
Non-raptor Observations:
Small groups of still bright Goldfinches entertained us all day making many
trips to the rain-filled pot holes in front of us. A group of five Ravens
played tag over the east ridge. The gentleman from Hanover PA did another
Wednesday pigeon release, this time at 8:30 am.
