My Wednesday afternoon visit to The Hardware River Wildlife Management Area
allowed me to confirm the sighting of two(2) Solitary Sandpipers feeding in
the partially flooded, but rapidly drying corn field between the two rivers.
The James River side of the field contained fewer other birds than I had
reported earlier in the week, while the Hardware River side of the field
contained more birds including Blue-grey Gnatcatchers, Red-eyed Vireos and
Yellow-throated Warblers.
Numbering in the thousands were LARGE Brown Hungry Mosquitoes. One found a spot
on my hand where the Deet did not cover. Ouch!
