Weather:
Cloud cover ranged from 40% to begin watch ending @ 100% cloud cover the
last 2 hrs. Temps were a bit chilly to begin (60) but ended with
comfortable temp of 71. winds were a 2-3 from the WNW to begin & became
variable NNW @ a 1. Visibility was a 5, very little haze in the morning but
increasing by end.
Raptor Observations:
Captain Kirk was at the helm for the first 3 hours then turned it over to
Baron (me). What we lacked in numbers, was made up for the 8 species
observed today. Hawks were mostly way out or way up & most on Westerly
side. Highlights include a Merlin shoosting through eye level as they
usually do (my first this season)
3 RS
AEBE 13:03
Imm BE x2, both unaged, respectively @ 14:23 & 14:36
Non-raptor Observations:
Sometimes in anticipation of what will be seen during the day, we forget to
enjoy the journey up the mountain, this morning i did not, it was
absolutely beautiful. Looking out over the valleys at the far off mountains
was stunning,,,,,so enjoy the journey, but stay on the road !
Predictions:
Is anybody's guess, but i am sure there will be many involved & it will be
a good time,,,,
