Visitors:
Parkway was unusually busy for this time of year. Lots of brief stop, look
and go folk. Motorcycle traffic was significantly higher. Day hikers and
dog walkers throughout the day.
Weather:
Temperatures from 52F to 56F by mid-day dropping back to 52F by end of
watch. Cloud cover at 100% with some lessening at various times. Wind
variable from SSE, SE and SW at Beaufort 1. No precipitation
Raptor Observations:
Raptors rising in West but moving East over Goose Creek Valley at lower
altitudes.
Non-raptor Observations:
TVs and BVs in small groups with fewer Ravens but singularly. I want to
thank Mitch Mitchell for starting the watch today and for Carl Christensen
joining us for this last day of our personal seasonal raptor count. We'll
be back for the spring count.
Predictions:
Overcast. High 69F in valleys East and West. 5 to 7 degrees cooler on Knob.
Winds light and variable from WNW.
