My wife and I had a great trip to Highland County, Virgina last week - three
lifers for us, and a chance to see a beautiful part of the state we've never
been to. However, we would have liked to locate the Golden-winged warblers that
appear to breed there. The ebird reports indicate "Blue Grass Valley" or "Wimer
Road". Wimer Mountain Road is mostly farmland, with almost no place to pull
over. The Valley itself is a large area, with at least 6 miles of roadway
running down its length. Can anyone point us to the most likely spots around
Blue Grass to hear or see the warblers? (Off-line is fine, if this is
sensitive information.)Â Even if we don't find the warblers, I'd love an
excuse to go back. Thanks, -Eric Pourchot, Fairfax County.
