You can park at the last house on the right on Wimer Mountain Road before
you hit WV. This is Bramble Hill, a 30 acre property that is open for
birders to walk and birdwatch. There are mowed paths behind and to the
west of the house that should allow you to see golden-winged warblers, and
they can also be seen from the road. Bramble Hill is owned by Mr. O'Bryan,
the husband of the late Margaret O'Bryan, who was a founding member of the
Richmond Audubon Society and always welcomed birders to this property. My
husband and I are currently helping Mr. O'Bryan to manage the property in
hopes that it will be conserved and open for bird watchers into the future.
One rule Margaret always had that still exists today is that no one uses
playback to more easily observe or photograph birds on the property.
