The weather was much better than yesterday, and the song birds around
Hoffler Creek were very accommodating. Pileated Woodpeckers were very vocal,
and I spent several minutes watching one diligently excavate a future
nesting site. Both kinglets and a number of Fox Sparrows were actively
foraging. Entire 41 species are listed below.
Also, two separate rafts of 50+ Canvasbacks were seen from Rt 17 on the
Nansemond River.
