While walking the dog late yesterday afternoon in my neighborhood my wife & I
found a flock of about 75 Horned Larks on Ebenezer Church Rd in one of my
neighbor's horse paddocks. After I loaned my binos to my wife she was sure she
also saw a Lapland Longspur in with the flock. Unfortunately, in spite of
thoroughly looking through the entire flock as this would be a new neighborhood
bird for me, I could not find any longspurs after she returned the binos to me.
We also observed at least 3 Wilson's Snipe & a few Killdeer in the same area
but closer to the road; both of those species have been seen all winter while
the Horned Larks appear to be a new addition. The Killdeer do nest in this same
area.
