I still have about 4 hummers at my home in Reston, VA (Fairfax County). In
the last few years, my straggling hummers have departed in mid-October, so
what I am seeing is normal for my yard. My sense is that the wet weather
has stalled migration a bit, but behold, the next cool front will probably
send the last of the migrants south. I noticed the remaining Ruby-throats
have that "puffy" look, as they are trying to expand the air pockets in
their feathers and keep warm.
