A good morning at Huntley Meadows. Finally some water in the wetlands thanks
to Sandy. Highlights were Winter Wren in the crown of a pine tree now lying
on the ground, brought down by the storm over the walkway from visitor
center to boardwalk (walkway is clear). Three or four Palm warblers in the
wetland. Bluebirds very active, five Tree Swallows over the wetland, and
plenty of White-throated and Song Sparrows, and one or two each Swamp and
Fox Sparrows. Wetland also held many Mallards, significant numbers of
Green-winged Teal, and one Gadwall. Bald Eagle and Red-shouldered Hawk, and
several TVs over wetland. Brown creeper near visitor center feeder, along
with Carolina Chickadees.
