Another dismal August birding morning at Huntley Meadows. Only 25 species
spotted by 8 birders on a humid, clear morning. Again this week, unusual
no-shows: Canada Geese - 0; Mallards - 0, American Robins - 0, shorebirds - 0.
The prominent attraction this week was dragon flies. So, few birds, but still a
great walk in the Huntley wetlands freshly inundated from yesterday's heavy
downpour. The birding highlight was a pair of Bobolinks in their fall plumage.
Since August is almost over, maybe the sightings will start going up soon.
