A note to all planning a visit to Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria this
summer: Huntley’s boardwalk
will be undergoing major repairs beginning in August for about two months. The
entire boardwalk surface is to be replaced. The pressure-treated wood lumber
will be replaced with eco-friendly, recycled plastic lumber. The underlying
structure is fine for another 15 years and will not be replaced – only surface
boards are being
replaced. This means, however, that large sections of
the boardwalk will be closed at a time, and visitors may encounter construction
