VA BIRDers,
I was hoping the cold front would be somewhat finished before sunrise but
that was not the case as a 7am trip to the Huntley Meadows VC parking lot
had just a few sprays of sunlight which quickly closed up. Yet, the top bird
was a (juvie) Black-billed Cuckoo. I walked the trail to the boardwalk and,
over the construction noise, managed to find a Palm Warbler (western).
On the way home I stopped at the Dyke Marsh picnic area at 530 pm and found
2 Blue-winged Teal along with 23 No. Shovelers plus a white-phase Little
Blue Heron along the shoreline between the picnic area and the Stone Bridge.
