Sue Coleman from Lynchburg, Lynn Dodge, Suzanne Mason & Gaynelle Hart from
the Lynchburg bird club, Matt Hosmer (first timer)from Lynchburg, Katherine
Walker from Roanoke, Darryl Martin, Mitch Mitchel, Bill Hundley with a
group of youngsters from Community School, some were there for art, some
for nature & some for photography studies. Would like to say thanks to
Barry, Sue, Mike, Darryl, Mitch, Tina & all the others for their eyes,
great help. Many Parkway goers.
Weather:
Mix of sun & clouds turning mostly clear by the end of watch with westerly
winds & very tolerable temps but hot in the sun.
Raptor Observations:
Most hawks observed on west side or over the top & very high or way out
although we did get some good looks at a couple of BE's, SS's & AK's. 48
BW's the first 6 hrs of watch then 94 the last 2 1/2 hrs of watch. The
resident RT's continue to meander back & forth, over & around the watch.
Adult BE @ 08:50 & 14:33
Imm BE @ 13:20
Non-raptor Observations:
the last 1 1/2 hrs of watch we observed hundreds if not thousands of dragon
fly's, way too many to count (60 BW counted during this period of time),
most were long skinny bodied with some being of the saddlebags species.
