I participated in the Friends of the Forest event at the New Kent
Forestry Center this morning. I finally got my BARRED OWL picture. We
were driving down one of the roads and he flew into the woods near us.
He sat still long enough for me to get a picture. Yay...

Also got an Eastern Towhee, and a young skunk. We think the skunk was
sick or injured. He let us get within 5 feet of him and was very calm.
I went back by the same location later and he was not in the field any
longer, so he made it into the woods.
We saw several hawks, osprey, GBH's, lots of vultures, and several
others. I know Shirley has a detailed list of all the birds. It was
nice to meet a bunch of members of the group for the first time and see
others that I hadn't seen in a while.
While I didn't get that many pictures, I added one I really wanted, so I
came away happy.
