Lynda and I went on a 'Discover the James' eagle tour on Sunday
morning. The boat leaves from Deep Bottom Boat Landing in Henrico
County. The tours leave at different times of the day and go up the
James River, under the Varina-Enon 295 bridge, to the foot of Dutch Gap
and back. We saw at least three different eagle nests and sets of
eagles, four plus osprey nests, more than you can count great blue
herons, several kingfishers, and several cormorants as well. It was
well worth the fee and a fun time. The tours are small and the captain
quite knowledgeable of the area and the birds. His website is at:

I have a new camera and am trying to learn it, so I took more than
enough pictures...plus they were eagles and ospreys, which are my favorites.
