I walked around James River Park at the 42nd Street location for about 6
hours this morning and this afternoon. I saw 49 species (all in the first 3
1/2 hours), plus a duck flying overhead that I couldn't identify past
Mallard or American Black. I saw and/or heard my first Acadian Flycatcher
of the year, plus only my second ever Yellow-breasted Chat. I sat and
listened to it for about 10 minutes. Very cool sounds! I also heard a
couple of Swainson's Thrushes (at least one calling and one singing), a
lingering Hermit Thrush, a female American Redstart, Chestnut-sided
Warbler, as well as about 10 each of Black and White Warblers and Northern
Parulas and a pair of immature American Robins. Altogether, it was an 11
