Dave Ledwith and I heard a Kentucky warbler singing in the woods across the
road from the ash pond on Cockpit Point road this morning. This was by far the
best bird of the drizzly, gray, chilly morning. Given the unfavorable winds
last night there were very few migrants about. We came across one small group
of yellow-rumped warblers and heard a couple of blackpolls, a northern
waterthrush, and a rose-breasted grosbeak. Resident breeders were in full
song, however, and we still managed a nice list of 71 species.
