Right on schedule, bobolinks have returned to the grass fields just up the
road from the intersection of Leeds Manor Road and Highway 17/55 (just before
the turn off to Sky Meadows State Park).
This makes the 9th year out of the last 12 that I’ve seen bobolinks in this
specific locality right around the end of the first week in May.
This year’s aggregation is pretty decent. I observed about two dozen birds,
several of which were kind enough to sit on the overhead
wires and sing as only bobolinks can.
