Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Joe Beatty, Katie Garst
Weather:
Moderate, gusty winds were from the northeast and east northeast, with
overcast and mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures were in the high fifties to
low sixties.
Raptor Observations:
There was a decent flight, with many birds nice and low, right overhead.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was good non-raptor diversity today. A massive American Robin flight
occurred this morning, with thousands of birds flying over. There were also
many flocks of blackbirds. A variety of sparrows were in the Dogfennel,
including the usual suspects-- Song, Chipping, Swamp, Field,
White-throated, and White-crowned. Many distant ducks (probably mostly
scoters) were flying today. A White-winged Dove flew by at 2:15 pm EST. It
was first seen on the east side flying southwards, and then a Cooper's Hawk
chased it off to the northeast. It was last seen landing in a pine
somewhere near the Kiptopeke Condos. Other observations included:
34 Great Blue Herons
27 Common Loons over land
2 American Pipits
2 Great Egrets
2 White-winged Scoters
2 Wilson's Snipe
1 Greater Yellowlegs
1 Pine Siskin
1 Wood Duck
